I am willing to make a bet right now: I can bet you haven’t bothered thanking your customer after their made their purchases off your brick-and-mortar shop or even your e-commerce enabled website. It just seems to be too classic or too boring thing to do. Nothing glamourous, like installing a new server or virtualization software for your company, is it? The thing with this tactic is that it is too simple and such things are not taken easily by complex puritans who turn into entrepreneurs. Sending a simple, hand-written ‘thank you’ note or at least a text-message on a mobile device seems to be too much of a task to do, especially after making the sale. Customers love to be pampered and there could nothing more flattering for them than to receive a thank you note in any form whatsoever. It is such a simple thing to do and it could fetch you long-term returns. You would trigger a word-of-mouth effect because of such a simple act and your customers will have something to remember you for, apart from the fabulous products or services, of course. I do understand that it is yet another chore an already busy entrepreneur has to contend with. He could do it himself, outsource it or develop a systemt that can automatically leverage the Internet and make this an automated process. Do what it takes, but do it. Do you think sending out thank you notes can help in customer retention and in your business?
